Deliveries:

There's an abundance of Hannibal fan art out there but this is by far my favourite.

Normally that date would bother me.
Pathetic puppy noises would most certainly occur.
Quite possibly some maniacal twitching.
But no-one, no-fucking-one has picked this magnificent show up yet and i'm losing my cool.
I really am.
I was upset when Constantine got cancelled but it really wasn't all that good.
Sure, i loved it and Matt Ryan was more than i could have asked for but it's okay, i get it and i've grieved.
But Hannibal getting cancelled? That's unholy.
So, the longer i can keep the quite possibly last season away from me... the better it is for everyone.
It's not going to be pretty. Ugly crying, fits of whining, a multitude of foot stomps.
Y'know, your average tv addicts reaction to losing a dear, televisual friend.
Perfectly acceptable behaviour.
...
For lunatics.

I might not be okay.

So, the blog's a bit different.
And i had nothing to do with it.
Eve of Mango Blogs Shop is entirely responsible and a good thing too because i suck at anything that isn't basic html.
I'd like to be, i've conquered a few online classes but as soon as i've learned something it only takes a few days to dissipate.
My brain is a baseless bucket.
...
Cue etsy.
Glorious etsy.
And talented coders/designers willing to help out us brainless luddites.
Especially us casual blogging brainless luddites who don't necessarily need all the fancy shmancy features that professional bloggers have but still want their blog to look good instead of resembling html road kill.
I'm looking at you sidebar, you were not pretty and i'm very, very, very sorry.

So, if you're looking for a blog template that's elegantly designed, slick to use and easy to install? Eve's your girl.
She'll also happily help you out if there's a problem and not make you feel like the coding moron that you are.

Truly the way to my puny, blackened heart.

There's a certain style in literature to take a home/building/structure and give it life.
Painful, breathing, inescapable life.
Be it horribly haunted, saturated by a gathering of stranded souls, or simply emanating a feeling of being 'alive'.
It intervenes in the characters' lives, nudging, guiding, shoving them in a direction they wouldn't have necessarily taken without its presence.
It quakes, creaks and moans with life and these are the stories i love.
I couldn't tell you specifically why, there are just certain quirks in literature that compel and comfort me.
Sentient architecture is one of them.
If i could devour every single story like this, i would, with abandon.
But tracking them down is proving impossible.
It's not exactly an easy thing to Google and i'm relying on others to have a previously vested interest in this particular narrative style.
So far, no such luck.
Thus, a list.
A list of stories i've read and loved and all have one thing in common: a sentient home.

Homes with an obvious sentience:

Homes with a subtle sentience:

Homes that create a feeling of sentience without there necessarily being any:

Just looking at all these makes me long for more.
That's one hell of a list and hopefully it will grow.
I've already had a recommendation from the family in the form of Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca and with any luck there'll be more to come.
How many parts of my body can i cross for literary luck?
